He has been affiliated with the University of Oregon and community colleges in Oregon, teaching Newah and Nepali languages and culture studies. Because of his extensive knowledge and experience in Newah culture, literature, and language, the Executive Board recognized the importance of his assistance for the organization’s growth, promotion, and protection. In a recent meeting in October 2020, the Executive Board honored Mr. Shakya with Patron position and expressed their thankfulness for his willingness to serve the organization for good.

Mr. Shakya now joins 3 other Patrons, Dr. Satya Mohan Joshi, Professor Manik Lal Shrestha, and late Dr. Padma Ratna Tuladhar.

We welcome and congratulate Mr. Shakya in his new role as Patron of WNO and look forward to collaborating with him for years to come.
