Dear Newah friends around the world,

Jwojalapa!

We hope you and your family are healthy and safe. This year we’ll be celebrating the 4th World Newah Day on Saturday, March 27, 2021. We are excited to mark pride in Newah unity, to inspire solidarity, and to support the socio-economic, cultural, and intellectual development of Newah people worldwide. The World Newah Organization (WNO) wholeheartedly thanks all who joined Newah Day celebrations in the past 3 years. WNO invites individuals, families, communities, and social organizations around the globe to celebrate our unique cultural heritage again this year.

We are promoting this auspicious day to unite Newahs and bring awareness to the richness of Newah heritage within and beyond our communities. There is much to be proud of being Newah.

However, due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, we request that you take precautions to mitigate risk and stay safe and healthy-wear a mask, maintain social distancing, wash hands, follow guidelines from your local health experts, and celebrate this day in accordance with local regulations if you decided to organize gatherings.

We ask you to honor World Newah Day however you can, with family or with friends, taking a walk, eating samay baji, yomari, or momo, watching a Newah movie, reading a story, reciting poems, organizing a quiz game, singing, dancing, organizing a virtual get together, even by drinking a cup of tea. This is your pride day for being Newah so find what’s meaningful for you. Post photos and video highlighting why you are proud of being Newah on social media with hashtag #worldnewahday. We’ll watch and share your hashtags!

We hope to promote goodwill and friendship on this day as we work to fulfill our mission to promote Newah heritage and preserve it for the generations to come. Thank you for your unwavering support. Wishing you a happy and productive 2021!
